First of all, this is my first time writing a blog, or for that matter, writing anything, so bear with me as I attempt to make this interesting.
My name is Adam Shapiro and 2.5 months ago, I bid a temporary farewell to my life as an office temp, theatre usher, and aspiring performer in New York City to prepare for an 8 month contract sailing the south seas as a performer on the newly refurbished MS ROTTERDAM with Holland America. Saying goodbye to NYC and all my loved ones was a sorely painful endeavor, but I also couldn't deny a certain level of excitement and intrigue as I embarked on what I knew would be, at the very least, an interesting experience.
Upon arriving in Los Angeles, I found myself in the company of 7 other very talented individuals (and when I say individual, I mean it. Everyone has their own unique brand of talent and it makes us a wonderfully diverse cast)
Our Mission: Put together 7 shows in 2.5 months in a brand new 8 person format that would please a cruise ship audience as if they had just seen a broadway show sponsored by Cirque Du Soleil. That, I can tell you, is quite an endeavor, especially when you are including everything from Opera to Disco.
Some highlights of our time in LA....
Being treated to Box Seats for Barry Manilow at the Hollywood bowl

Random wig parties

And of course, Haloween

And then on Monday, December 14, we departed LA for our new home...the MS ROTTERDAM!
And this dear readers, is where our tale begins. What will our young jewish singer encounter on the high seas? Who will he meet? Where will he travel? And how will he cope with dancing on a stage that...might not be where it was when his foot left the ground. Stay tuned for the next installment, where the first show goes up and I adjust to life on the ship.
Ciao for now!

Looking forward to this blogging of yours. And wishing you the best.
